Course Overview

Reverse ETL (extract, transform, and load) takes data from a source, cleans and structures it, and sends it to a data warehouse or data lake. If you load data before transforming it, you’re performing ELT.

Reverse ETL process copies data from a warehouse into business applications like CRMs, analytics and marketing automation software. You perform this process using a reverse ETL tool that integrates with your data source and business SaaS tools. Some CDPs can also activate data in those apps.

In short, ETL/ELT and Reverse ETL sit on opposite sides of a data pipeline. One fulfills data integration, the other, data activation.
